What inspired my Druzy piece? I choose this sky blue Druzy because it reminded me of the Indian Ocean of Western Australia.
On the westernmost tip of Australia there is a place called Deepdene.It sits near the Indian Ocean. From 1972 to 1980 I had the privilege of living in Australia.One day, my parents, brother and I were invited to have a picnic at Deepdene, which was owned at the time by an acquaintance of my parents.After a quick picnic, we drove to the coast to spend the day at the beach.It was a narrow dirt road to the beach, which took a bit of maneuvering by my Dad.After we parked, we had to walk through the trees and low and behold was the most beautiful beach on this earth!
The water was a clear sky blue and the sand was as white as snow!There was no seaweed in sight, like I was used to seeing here along the California coast.The sand is so amazing, very white and it is very light weight and will blow in the wind.We were able to walk out into the Ocean, at least a mile out if we had wanted to, since there were no waves and the water only reached to our waists. There was just salt foam along the sandy shoreline.It was like being in a swimming pool, without the chlorine.The afternoon sun on the water made it sparkle and shine. I added in the black beads to the pendant, because, in order to get to the water, we had to cross a line of huge ants that were going back and forth across our path.
The black sparkles of this Druzy reminded me of the thousands of stars that came out after the sun went down.It was an unbelievable sight.No lights of a nearby town or city to dim the beautiful sky.
